  • At O'Steen's Restaurant on beautiful Anastasia Island in St. Augustine, visitors will find amazing seafood and a comfortable, fun atmosphere. This restaurant has remained a favorite of locals and tourists alike ever since it opened. Famous for their plump fried shrimp, other favorites on the menu include items such as fried chicken, Minorcan clam chowder, and hush puppies.

    O'Steen's warm family atmosphere coupled with excellent food keeps them busy every day. This is a cash only establishment that serves lunch and dinner, and offers takeout as well.

    If you like fried seafood go to O'steens. Family style cooking on sides. It was o.k., but long wait is not worth it. Remember to bring cash because they do not take credit cards.

    We go to St. Augustine several times a year. Never miss a chance to have shrimp at O'Steen's. Pink sauce, datil pepper sauce, squash casserole, and coconut cream pie round out a great meal!

    Osteens is an institution. Granted the best of their food is fried. Shrimp and hushpuppies. Their hushpuppies are so good and I don't usually even eat other seafood restaurants attempts. My husband knows if he wants to treat me, that's where we go. Been going there for over thirty years travel from jacksonville.

    We've been coming fm Jax to O'Steen's since the 1970's; never had a bad meal!!! The wait does get irritating at times, but if the wait is too long, we'll go to one of their competitors but never quite as good as O'Steen's. Their hushpuppies are to "die for!" Could eat those w/glass of tea and be in "hog heaven!!"

    When you have a take out with 18 shrimp, they put the scoop of cold slaw unboxed in the container with the shrimp and fries. Thye don't care that causes the shrimp and fries to get soggy if the box gets tipped. Then they put hush puppies in a container with a lid. Stupid and refused to switch Still won't take credit cards

    My friend and I had lunch there and were not impressed. The shrimp was about average but the sides were not at all good. Sevice was average.

    I'm not sure why this restaurant rated 5 stars, but other than the great service I would only give it 2. The food and menu at this restaurant was terrible....all deep fried . Some of the sides were fried as well and the others, at least the ones I saw or tasted were overcooked or laden with mayonnaise. They pride themselves on fried shrimp but they were soggy and not enjoyable at all....just wanted to pick off the batter and my companion had to send the crab cakes back as they were inediable. Perhaps if you love deep fried food you'll enjoy this restaurant but don't look for anything else on the menu because there wasn't much else to offer.

    If you believe everything taste better fried...Then this is the place for you! The shrimp is a guilty pleasure. And the hush puppies are to die for...honestly the best anywhere!!!

    St. Augustine is known for its fried shrimp, and O'Steen's is the pinnacle of that reputation. Butterflied and lightly battered, best enjoyed with their special recipe cocktail sauce. Simply put... the best fried shrimp I have ever tasted.
