St. Augustine Hotel and Suites offered some of the most reasonable rates we found in the St. Augustine area. The hotel offers good value for the money; the rooms are clean and comfortable, the grounds are well kept, and they include complementary full breakfast. The staff is friendly and helpful. Additionally their doors are open to pets, which was important for us. The only reason I can't give this hotel five stars is because the property is beginning to show its age. There are places where the paint is beginnning to crack. The now-defunct bar is awkwardly shuttered. Things like this could stand to be addressed, but ultimately they're cosmetic. The WGV location is a bit of a drive from the attractions in the historic district, but it does offer an interesting opportunity. If you're willing to go the back way into town, International Golf Parkway offers a scenic glimpse of unspoiled, canopy-covered, old Florida highway. Overall we enjoyed our stay here. We will gladly stay here again, and would recommend it to anyone traveling on a budget or with their fur-covered companions.
