  • Coronavirus (COVID-19) Updates for St. Augustine:

    March 25, 2020.

On March 25, the City of St. Augustine cancelled all permitted events, festivals, and large gatherings through May 8, 2020.

On March 23, Governor DeSantis issued Executive Order 2020-80, requiring all who fly into Florida from the tri-state area (New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut) to isolate or quarantine themselves for a period of 14 days.

This article contains up-to-date information about what's open and what's closed in the St. Augustine area. We are continuing to update this information as we receive notifications of openings, closings, and cancellations by businesses, event organizers, and local and state government officials.

While we try hard to maintain accuracy in these lists of open and closed businesses, things are happening fast, and we recommend you always call ahead to confirm.

For information about precautions and healthcare recommendations in general about the Coronavirus emergency, visit the Center for Disease Control website.

There is no fee to park in city lots and spaces. There is a $15.00 daily fee to park in the city garage.

While travel is discouraged, for now, dreaming is not.

We at VistStAugustine are working from home and look forward to answering your questions about your future visit to the Historic City of St. Augustine.

Because they actually have brains in Jax unlike here. POTUS just said yesterday no groups larger than 10 yet our tourist trains are running...germ trains as I call them;)

Schooner Seafood house is open as well!!

Any updates on the beaches, surfing, ect...?

If you go to the St Johns County Sheriff’s Facebook they show what’s open and closed
    Good luck

Are the beaches still open? We have reservations for March 17 - 19.

My daughter is planning a trip to the beach on the 29th and I just read where Miami and Ft Lauderdale have closed the beach. Will St. Augustine do the same? How often is the information updated? Thank you

    Is visitor center open?

    Hi, Maureen.

As of today, the Visitor Information Center is open. We will update this article if and when that changes.

No visitors center closed March 17 until further notice along with trolleys and trains and many museums some shops no bars open for 30 days.
Day for day closings hotels to are closing. Beaches may be closing all up to county.

The Visitor's Center has been closed until further notice. Another note about downtown, the city parking lots and street parking are now free. The parking garage is open, but there is still a fee.

The Restaurant ‘Dicks Wings Bar & Grill’ on US 1, is remaining open as usual.

Is there any updates to the closed list as of today as I believe some of the things listed as open may now be closed. Thank you.

Thank you, Jessica. We update the article whenever we learn of new closures or businesses that are remaining open. We did just change the Castillo de San Marco to indicate they will close after today and add that Fort Matanzas will also close after today.

Thank you so much for these updates it is very helpful with our trip.

Will the shops downtown remain open?

Thank you for your question, Laura. We have not heard of any closures other than the ones listed here. We try to keep up as much as possible and update daily. Still, we suggest you call stores that are of particular interest.

We are planning to visit St. Augustine next week...how often will you update this site?

Thank you for your question, Karen. We have been updating it daily (including on the weekend) as we learn information. Of course, not every business or event contacts us, so we may not be up-to-date at all times.

That's why we suggest that before you head out, you call the places you are most interested in visiting.

will these things remain open for the weekend?

Thank you for your interest in St. Augustine, Gabi. The businesses we have heard from intend to maintain their schedules indefinitely. Of course, if the authorizing agencies require them to close, they will have to do so.

Will the Fort be opened this week?

Thank you, Frank. At this point, the Castillo de San Marco has said that they will remain open.

No, I just read the Castillo will be CLOSED as of today, March 17... not sure when it will re-open.
