Schooner Freedom Earth Day Sail
Wednesday, April 22, 2015, 12:15 - 1:45 p.m. at St. Augustine Municipal Marina
Please Note: This event is from 2015.
The Schooner Freedom joins the worldwide celebration of Earth Day on Wednesday, April 22, 2015, with a special sail to enjoy the natural beauty of St. Augustine’s coastal waters. As the greenest of green touring options, this Class B tall ship offers this one-and-a-half-hour sail on a day that marks the beginning of raising global consciousness about the environment.
The Schooner Freedom is made entirely of easily-recyclable materials and, by harnessing the wind for its power, averages less than a gallon of diesel fuel a day.
Earth Day was established by Wisconsin Senator Gaylord Nelson and is widely considered to be the launch point of the modern environmental movement. It was celebrated by millions on April 22, 1970, in parks, auditoriums and on the streets across the country. It has been an annual event since 1990.
Admission: $25 for adults and $10 for kids (16 and under) includes complimentary soda and water.
