Blending jazz, pop, folk, Americana, blues, rock, and rhythm and blues, St. Augustine’s Goin’ Steady is an exceptionally remarkable duo that takes the ordinary and transforms it into the extraordinary.
Goin' Steady is St. Augustine's lovebird duet consisting of local musicians and songwriters David Strom (formerly of Two Thirds) and Morgan Meserve (of The Living Room Project). Together these two are partners in music as well as in life, hence the ensemble's clever name, Goin' Steady. Combining the genres of Americana, blues, rock, rhythm and blues, pop, jazz, and folk, the duo masterfully commits to their overall aura of a rising and falling of energy which can bring on both overwhelming passion and peace. Their on-stage banter draws audiences into their personal world and exudes an incredibly valuable sense of vulnerability. Their subtle eye to eye glances also allows crowds a glimpse into the simple, small moments that create such emotion within their live performances. It's easy to see why these two accomplished musicians and vocalists connected so easily in life, love, and on stage.
Lead acoustic guitar player David Strom has been a musical entity since a young child, growing up in a family in which both of his older brothers as well as his father are musicians. Through this influence David grew into his own musical voice, nurturing both performance and technique from the day he was born. Percussionist and guitarist Morgan Meserve, most well-known for her three-piece ensemble, The Living Room Project, which consists of two guitars and a cello, has increasingly become a driving force in the acoustic music scene. Morgan plays tambourine, egg shaker, and occasionally acoustic guitar within the duo. Goin' Steady's cover song setlist includes artists from Fleetwood Mac to the more contemporary Death Cab for Cutie. David and Morgan rotate the role of lead vocals and play off each other's melodies to facilitate an incredibly heartfelt two-part harmony that is as natural as their love for each other.
