Visitors to the Florida Agricultural Museum experience rural Florida life in the 1800s in this 460-acre living-history exhibit. The property includes:

  • A five-building citrus complex.
  • A 5,000-square-foot dairy barn.
  • A farmstead with outbuildings from the 1880s.
  • A turn-of-the-century country store.
  • A preserved rural post office.
  • An exhibit that depicts African and African American contributions to Florida's cattle industry.
  • The archeological remains of a British colonial period sawmill.

Due to insurance requirements, guests must take one of two guided tours to visit the museum's property and animals.

The Historic Buildings Tour lasts about 90 minutes. Led by an experienced tour guide, guests learn about the architecture, heritage, and history of the property's 11 historic buildings. These buildings were donated to the museum by local farms and families and painstakingly moved and restored by Florida Agricultural Museum staff and volunteers. The homestead includes various heritage livestock, including Florida cracker cattle, one of the nation's oldest breeds.

The Animal Tour is an abbreviated version of the historic buildings tour. It lasts about 40 minutes, taking guests on a hayride through the property to meet Florida cracker cattle, rabbits, chickens, horses, donkeys, goats, and sheep.

The museum offers horseback trail rides Tuesday through Sunday and summer riding camps. Guests should book rides through the museum's website at least 24 hours in advance. A 200-seat, shaded picnic area is available for reservation, and the historic dairy barn is available to rent for special events and weddings.
