Raised in the tiny town of Clifton Forge in the Virginia mountains, Alexa Rose’s songs have storytelling qualities from Appalachia, are rooted in bluegrass, and offer a fresh take on current and timeless themes.

She released her debut studio album, Medicine for Living, in 2018, and the title track won the Chris Austin Songwriting Contest at Merlefest. Her second album, Headwaters, was acclaimed in both American Songwriter and Rolling Stone.

Rose writes songs that tell her story and the story of the mountains, in a way that blends time, old country music, traditional folk songs, and a contemporary exploration of topics that have recurred through centuries. Her distinctive voice and instinctive lyrics share her truth in a way that makes it our truth.

Rose has released two albums and an EP since 2019; the most recent, Atmosphere, was released in 2025.
