Awilda Quezada
She has wowed Jacksonville audiences with her vocals, Latin beat, and Merengue moves.
Awilda Quezada moved to the U.S. in 2019 and built a successful career on the foundation she started in the Dominican Republic, where she was a singer and a professional dancer.
Awilda specializes in Latin dances, of which the merengue is a favorite. The merengue is the national dance of the Dominican Republic, and while it is most often danced with a partner, Awilda performs it solo, teaching the steps to her audience while she sings. In the States, Awilda performs with a backing track, sometimes with one or two percussionists on stage to add a stronger beat.
She sings in English and Spanish, and mixes her original music into each set. The result is a lively, energetic performance before an engaged and dancing audience.
Awilda has become well-known in Jacksonville, appearing on television, the radio, and at numerous festivals and stages. Over the past few years, she has collaborated with several artists in the area and has used her love of dance to help raise funds for several local causes.
Awilda has gained a regional and national audience. In northeast Florida, she performs regularly at local venues, festivals, corporate events, and weddings.
