Buddy Crump
Began his shred career at age nine.
Born across the river in Orange Park, Buddy Crump did not pick up a guitar til he was nine, but was quick to learn the shred. Beginning with an acoustic, he moved on to an Epiphone Les Paul; and started his stage career at age 11, sitting in with the Bold City Band.
With family connections to local players, he was exposed to Jacksonville's guitar sounds; and found his way to the British players such as Mick Ralphs, Beck, Clapton, and Alvin Lee. Of course, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Allen Collins, Hendrix, and Joe Perry are heroes as well. At the age of 16, he became part of a Skynryd tribute band, Pronounced, and befriended Ivan Pulley playing the Skynryd sound, "super loud and super clean." He then joined the Ivan Pulley Band in 2017.
Two years later he began playing with Danger Bird, which became Fortune Child, a locally well-known rock band. Crump performed with Fortune Child across Europe in late 2024, and can now be heard at venues across Northeast Florida, often at Pierre's Pub.
