Jeremy Dean
This well-traveled songwriter uses his far-flung experiences to create an original sound.
A singer-songwriter now based in St. Augustine, Jeremy Dean’s music touches on roots music, Americana, folk, country, and soul. As both a solo artist and collaborator, Jeremy has written and performed across the globe for more than a decade, with shows throughout the U.S., Central America, the UK, and Australia.
He was born in Florida and raised in a home filled with music. His father, a professional musician, introduced Dean to the music of John Prine, Kris Kristofferson, and Paul Simon, as well as the classic sounds of Tom Petty, The Beatles, and vintage country. Dean performed solo and with several bands while in high school. In college, he performed with several touring acts—including Good Morning Engineer, Jaspers, and Curious Animals—sharing the stage with artists such as Iron & Wine, The Bowerbirds, Givers, and Cursive.
After college, Dean moved to Asheville, North Carolina, where he spent several years performing in the city’s bar and brewery scene before relocating to Costa Rica in 2016. There, he continued to write and perform, playing intimate venues throughout the region. In early 2020, Dean and his wife moved to Australia, where he connected with local musicians like Tay Oskee and Felipe Baldomir through busking in Byron Bay. During the lockdown, they recorded new music together in a home studio, resulting in Jeremy’s singles, “To Name a Thing” and “Darling Rose.”
Dean and his wife recently returned to Florida, settling in St. Augustine, where he is focused on writing, recording, and performing in his hometown.
