Joel Shewmake grew up in Cookeville, Tennessee, where he discovered his musical talents around the age of fourteen. In 2001, Joel made the decision to move to Nashville to pursue his career in music, and at the end of the year he signed his first publishing deal with BMG. Since then he has been writing music for a variety of record labels such as Warner Chapel, Amylase Entertainment, and BMG/Chrysalis. His hard work has gotten him cuts with artists Brad Paisley, Trace Adkins, Gary Allan, Montgomery Gentry, Lonestar, Jerrod Niemann, Cody Johnson, and Craig Campbell.
