Born in Amarillo, Texas, Jon Nite was raised in a musical family. He entered a songwriting contest on a dare, and though he now calls the song "horrible," the judges saw promise, and some encouraged him to move to Nashville. So he did. In Nashville, he worked, ultimately graduated from Belmont University's music school, and kept on writing songs.

Nite has written 18 number-one songs, 30 top country hits, and won the Country Music Awards Triple Play honor. Nite's hits include "Break Up in the End, recorded by Cole Swindell; "Whatever She's Got," recorded by David Nail, and "Living" and "Tip It On Back," both recorded by Dierks Bentley.
