From opening for Jason Isbell to performing at Mearlfest and then going on a tour stretching from Maine to Oregon — Kyshona's new and relevant protest music has struck a chord with her audiences. This former music therapist uses her unique blend of soul, gospel, roots, rock, and folk to write songs that empower her audiences and serve her passion for healing through music.
NPR Music, the Bluegrass Situation, and Billboard Magazine are among those who have praised Kyshona for her ability to put her stamp on nearly every genre, for her lyric qualities, and her commitment to her message. In 2022, Kyshona's song "Nighttime Animal" was listed in American Songwriter's Top 25 Songs of that year. In 2023, she gave a keynote address for Fulbright Scholars and was featured in the PBS television show, Ear to Common Ground.
In the Kyshona Trio, Kyshona plays guitar and sings lead vocals. She is joined by singers, Heidi Burson and Nickie Conley.
