Paul Orehovec, songwriter, outside in black and white

Paul Orehovec

Musician, television producer, songwriter — for Paul Orehovec, it's all about the stories.

First, Paul Orehovec is a storyteller. He began by writing songs and playing music with several Miami-based bands, opening for James Brown, and playing at festivals. He then moved to Los Angeles and became a television co-producer for such shows as The Closer. He still wrote music and added producing music videos for other musicians to his list of talents and experiences.

In 2020, Paul left L.A. and moved to Nashville to start a new career as a songwriter for emerging country musicians. He also writes songs for his own use, calling that endeavor "Poor Life Choices," because who would leave a successful career in L.A. to move to Nashville and become a songwriter?

While Paul writes for country musicians, the music he writes for his own performances and recordings crosses over multiple genres including country, reggae, rock, and folk. Paul's experiences, innate storytelling abilities, and musical talent have merged, resulting in a songwriter with a different perspective, and in songs that paint an audio picture and have a narrative arc. Paul writes about life, love, failure, and the people he's met from coast to coast. And as his "Poor Life Choices" label indicates, the humor in his songs can provide hope and light.
