On Friday, February 6, 2026, from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m., Trinity Episcopal Church presents a solo concert by organist Amelie Held.

Praised as "a future star," Held was raised in Germany, where she studied piano and violin as a young child. She saw her first church pipe organ when she was 10 and was enthralled. After years of classes, Held studied organ in the class of Heidi Emmert at the Regensburg Academy of Music and then studied violin and organ at the University of Music Detmold, Germany. She earned a master's degree at the State University of Music and Performing Arts in Stuttgart, where she studied both pipe organ and harpsichord.

Held released her first album when she was 22. Her repertoire includes compositions for solo organs and works performed with orchestras and chamber ensembles. In addition to playing early music up through contemporary composers, Held often performs her own transcriptions. She lives in New York City, where she is the organist and choirmaster for the Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Held has performed on organs at major cathedrals around the world, including Hamburg, Paris, Milan, Zurich, Boston, and London. In addition to her musical skills and wide repertoire, Held is known for her bright red shoes. She has said that every organist needs a special pair of shoes and hers have always been bright red.
