Flowers for La Florida: The 450th City Beautification Campaign and Contest encourages local businesses to add colorful container plants to their storefronts, windows and balconies to help celebrate the city's upcoming 450th anniversary. The program began in December 2014, and is planned sot that the displays will reach full bloom in April. The contest judging will take place over two weeks, from April 3 - 17, 2015.

Flowers for La Florida is designed to enhance the visitor experience in St. Augustine. All local businesses are invited to participate by creating containers (or pots) filled with three different kinds of flowering plants: a thriller, a filler and a spiller. Examples of each type of plant are provided on the 450th website for the program. The campaign team will work with merchants and a local nursery to provide plants at a reduced cost.
