Fourth Saturdays Family Seining

Families can learn how to cast a seine net to collect various fish and crab species.

  • The Guana Tolomato Matanzas National Estuarine Research Reserve (GTMNERR) hosts Family Seining on the second and fourth Saturdays of each month. This is an opportunity for the whole family to learn how to use seine nets to collect various fish and crab species.

    The monthly event is led by a GTM naturalist, and all the necessary gear for the adventure, including waders and boots, are provided. Participants will be able to pull a seine net through Guana Lake, and learn about the various species found there.

    Admission: The tour is free, but there is a $3 per vehicle parking fee. Reservations are required. Please visit here to make a reservation.

    When: From 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. on the second and fourth Saturdays of each month.

    Where: The GTM National Estuarine Research Reserve is located at 505 Guana River Road in Ponte Vedra Beach, FL 32082. Participants should meet at the Guana Dam Recreational Area.
