The exhibit is part of the Cultural Council's "Art in Public Spaces" program. Stories of American Veterans
Earlier in 2025, VFW Post 2391 and Rick McAllister, a writer, photographer, and Vietnam Veteran, invited the St. Johns Cultural Council to organize a photography contest in honor of veterans. The organizing group invited photographers to submit up to three of their original photographs showing a veteran and an American Flag. A jury comprised of members of the VFW 2391 and the St. Augustine Camera Club selected 25 works for exhibition and chose three award winners following the photographic judging standards of the Florida Camera Club Council.
Three prizes were awarded, and a fourth photo received the special prize of Director's Award, based on the photo and the subjects' stories.
