Few songwriters have left a mark on modern music quite like Jeffrey Steele. A six-time Grammy Award nominee, Steele has spent decades crafting songs that have become career defining hits for artists across country, rock, pop, and Americana. His catalog has generated more than 65 million Broadcast Music, Inc. (BMI) recognized radio airplays, with recordings by Keith Urban, Eric Church, Zac Brown Band, Jimmy Buffett, Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, Trace Adkins, Rascal Flatts, Montgomery Gentry, Cher, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Joe Bonamassa, LeAnn Rimes, and many more.

Born Jeffrey LeVasseur in Burbank, California, Steele grew up in a musical family where songwriting was always close at hand. After discovering a love for performing as a child, he began playing with local bands as a teenager and performing on the Sunset Strip. Following the passing of his father in 1987, he adopted the surname Steele as a tribute to him, honoring his father's work in the steel industry. Throughout his remarkable career, Steele has earned some of the highest honors in songwriting. He is a member of the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame and has been recognized by the Country Music Hall of Fame as a Poet and Prophet. His achievements also include two BMI Songwriter of the Year awards, three Nashville Songwriters Association International Songwriter of the Year honors, two Country Music Association Triple Play Awards for writing three No. 1 songs in a single year, more than 35 BMI Country and Pop Awards, and recognition from both Billboard and MusicRow Magazine for his extraordinary body of work.

Steele's songwriting credits include some of country music's most enduring favorites, including "What Hurts the Most," "My Wish," "The Cowboy in Me," "Raise 'Em Up," "Knee Deep," "These Days," "My Town," "Something to Be Proud Of," "Everyday," and "Here." His acclaimed song "What Hurts the Most" earned a Grammy nomination for Best Country Song and remains one of the genre's defining ballads. His talents extend beyond the country charts. Steele received Golden Globe and Critics Choice Award nominations for Best Original Song with "I Thought I Lost You," featured in Disney/Pixar's Bolt and performed by Miley Cyrus and John Travolta.
