Mojo Healers
The four band members have all been playing the blues for years, together, they create magic.
Mojo Healers play the blues, and people who know about them show up to listen. Based in Jacksonville, the band performs in the three surrounding counties, playing at pubs, fairs, festivals, and clubs.
Each member has a long performance history.
Guitarist and vocalist Shuggie Brown brings his phat funky style to Mogo Healers. As a youth, Brown found his sound in the blues, funk, and classic southern rock. He toured the Southeast in the 70s and 80s with Blackjack. Later, he founded several bands, including Roughcut in Georgia and Shuggie Brown in North Carolina, which was regarded as one of the best rocking blues roadhouse bands in that state.
Ramon "The Doc" Ruiz plays drums and percussion and sings vocals for the Mojo Healers. The Doc picked up the drums on his own and has years of experience as a rock drummer. He's performed with Kansas and Journey tribute acts and has played in arenas with numerous bands. He brings a new approach to this blues band, playing with high energy and versatility.
Franc Robert, on guitar and vocals, is a known and welcome blues guitarist throughout Florida. One reviewer described Robert's fingers "dancing along his guitar neck" while he belted out the blues.
Mark McCoy has played bass and sung the blues for more than 40 years. He toured Europe and recorded in Woodstock with Leon Helm and Garth Hudson. In Northeast Florida, he performed with a band that won the First Coast Regional Blues Challenge in 2023 and 2024.
It's no wonder that Mojo Healers have a large local following. They bring years of experience, a love of the blues, high energy, and lots of talent to the stage—and dancers to venue floors.
