Scuttered the Bruce
This Celtic pub band from Gainesville keeps offers old favorites in a brash, new style.
This energetic and talented band of musicians have roots on two continents but all of them now hail from the Gainesville area. The band members are Tim on lead vocals and tambourine; Julia on violin and fiddle; Todd on guitar, Irish bouzouki, and backing vocals; Will on lead vocals, whistles, and melodica; and T.C. on lead vocals and bodran.
Their music consists of raucous club songs that honor the great classic pub groups — such as the Dubliners and the Clancy Brothers — but with the attitude, tempo, and energy of the Pogues. Their music includes old standards of the genre (think "Black Velvet Band") and more punk-like songs such as "Steams of Whiskey."
