SKOGARMAOR
A haunting union of Appalachian pagan folk and Nordic neo-folk music.
Emerging from the misty mountains of Asheville, North Carolina, SKOGARMAOR is the brainchild of black metal veteran Zeb Croom, known for his work with Oculum Dei and Turris Ruina. This musical endeavor explores the intersection of Appalachian folk and Nordic traditions with a dark ambient twist.
Formed amidst the challenges of the pandemic in the autumn of 2020, SKOGARMAOR's sound is a unique blend of Appalachian pagan folk and traditional Norse neo-folk, creating an immersive experience into realms both ancient and mystical. Through haunting melodies, the band invites audiences to explore forgotten tales and the whispers of ancient spirits.
Drawing from a diverse array of instruments such as skin drums, bear skin rattles, flutes, talharpa, harps, horns, and digital elements, SKOGARMAOR crafts an atmospheric storytelling experience unlike any other. Their debut full-length album, The Croom Saga's, consisting of nine tracks, takes listeners through a world of dark enchantment and folklore.
