Spanky The Band

St. Augustine’s kings of high-caliber performance, Spanky the Band, is a vibrant and comedically amusing four-piece rock ensemble that performs all songs rock, classic and contemporary.

Hailed by Fast Times Magazine as a "tight and solid rock band," St. Augustine, Florida's Spanky the Band is a rock and roll extravaganza that's sure to infiltrate the dancing bone of audience members across any demographic. The ensemble plays contemporary and classic rock, everything from Van Halen to ZZ Top, and does each song the head-banging justice it deserves. Inspired by the legendary genre of rock, the band takes its musical ques from the greats - Pink Floyd, The Who, and Black Sabbath to name a few. The band has been in its current line-up for over two years now, but the friendships formed between its members has been a decade in the making. The powerhouse four-piece ensemble is currently signed to the independent record label Palm Valley Records.

Lead vocalist and bass guitarist Chris Jenkins was originally inspired by rock band Led Zeppelin and gravitated towards the bass because of its rhythmic yet low-end melodic diversity. Nicknamed Lighting Reid, the band's pianist, violinist, and keyboard player Dennis Reid is the behind-the-scenes cornerstone of the band, setting up equipment and running sound as the band's designated roadie and technician. Dennis shines equally on each of his instruments and when he's ripping the bow to his fiddle, it's often hard for him to stay in one place. Audiences will find him rocking about the crowd, electrifying the performance with his undeniable fiery passion for performance. Also sharing the responsibility of lead vocals is percussionist and drummer Tim Brown. Simultaneously executing drums and vocals is an extreme rarity in the entertainment business only accomplished by few; Don Henley of The Eagles and Levon Helm of The Band, for example. Lead guitarist and back-up vocalist Les Samuels started picking strings around age 3 and by 6-years-old had fallen in love with the six-string guitar. First inspired by rock and roll band Kiss, Chris states, Spanky the Band "has the best chemistry and camaraderie of any musical group I have been a part of."
