Head shot of Zach Haywood in color

Zach Haywood

This musician thought that he would be a baseball player until music got in the way.

From Athens, Georgia, Zach Haywood found that watching a YouTube video would lead him toward his future in the music business. He picked up a guitar, and pretty much scheduled a gig. At the beginning of COVID, Haywood and the Hounds played 120 shows out of his pickup truck, and have not stopped yet. Playing across Florida and Georgia, they play covers and originals, adding pyrotechnics, as Haywood struts across the stage. The Hounds wow crowds and sell out shows commercially as well as for benefits.

With his deep country vocals and gritty sound, Haywood pens his own songs, which often start as poems and sonnets, to which his bandmates add chords and bring in the drums. Influenced by the indie folk country scene, Haywood speaks of following "God's plan to have me here" performing a crazy number of shows each year. Promoting the band prominently on social media, Haywood is the new model of an indie band.
