Cafe Eleven welcomes BeauSoleil avec Michael Doucet in their listening room on Thursday, April 2, 2026, at 8:00 p.m. Doors open at 7:00 p.m.

With a name meaning “beautiful sun” in French, BeauSoleil avec Michael Doucet keeps Cajun traditions alive by blending New Orleans jazz, Tex-Mex, and a variety of other musical styles. The award-winning band is celebrated for hits like “Carencro,” “La Douceur,” and “Bamako,” and their 1996 album L’Amour Ou La Folie (Love or Folly) earned the 1997 Grammy for Best Traditional Folk Album.

Known for performing original music on both traditional and unconventional instruments, ukulele, mandolin, violin, guitar, fiddle, and accordion, BeauSoleil pays homage to Joseph Broussard dit Beausoleil, the Acadian leader who resisted British deportation efforts in 1755. Broussard led the attack on Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, later known as the “Dartmouth Massacre.” Beausoleil guided 193 exiles to Louisiana before passing away in 1765.

BeauSoleil avec Michael Doucet's discography includes From Bamako to Carencro.
