The Mountain Goats are a folk rock and lo-fi band featuring Matt Douglass on flute, saxophone, clarinet, guitar, vocals, and keyboard; John Wurster on drums; and frontman John Darnielle on vocals, keyboard, and guitar. Named after lyrics from a song by Screamin’ Jay Hawkins, the band has been active since 1991 and is best known for tracks like “No Children,” “This Year,” and “Up the Wolves.”
Drawing creative inspiration from sources as varied as the Bible, A Chronicle of the Last Pagans, Dungeons & Dragons, and post-punk pioneers like Bauhaus, The Cure, and Joy Division, The Mountain Goats blend classic sounds with modern storytelling to continually captivate their audience.
