Ricky Skaggs & Kentucky Thunder at Ponte Vedra Concert Hall

The Ponte Vedra Concert Hall presents Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder on Sunday, January 17, 2026, at 8:00 p.m. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

Ricky Skaggs, the Kentucky-born musician celebrated for hits like “Same Old Train,” “Highway 40 Blues,” “Honey (Open That Door),” “Crying My Heart Out Over You,” “Heartbroke,” and “I Wouldn't Change You If I Could,” has made major contributions to bluegrass, gospel, neotraditional country, and folk music. He mastered the mandolin by age 21 and launched his solo country career in 1980.

Among Skaggs' many honors are 15 Grammy Awards, eight Country Music Association Awards, eight Academy of Country Music Awards, and 15 International Bluegrass Music Association Awards. His solo discography includes That's It, Sweet Temptation, Waitin' for the Sun to Shine, Family & Friends, Highways & Heartaches, Don't Cheat in Our Hometown, Country Boy, Love's Gonna Get Ya!, Comin' Home to Stay, Kentucky Thunder, My Father's Son, Solid Ground, Life Is a Journey, Solo, Mosaic, and Country Hits Bluegrass Style.

Kentucky Thunder, featuring Russell Carson, Justus Ross, Troy Engle, Mike Rogers, Billy Contreras, Gavin Kelso, and Ricky Skaggs, has been active since 1997. The bluegrass ensemble is known for hits such as “How Mountain Girls Can Love,” “Cat’s in the Cradle,” “On a Lonesome Night,” “Goin’ to the Ceiling,” and “A Simple Life.”

With seven Grammy Awards and nine International Bluegrass Music Association Awards, the band has proven they are here to stay. Their discography includes Bluegrass Rules!, Ancient Tones, Soldier of the Cross, History of the Future, Live at Charleston Music Hall, Brand New Strings, Instrumentals, Honoring the Fathers of Bluegrass: Tribute to 1946 and 1947, and Music to My Ears.

Local Box Office: As of August 1, 2025, the Ponte Vedra Concert Hall box office is open from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., seven days a week, and they sell tickets to performances at PVCH and the St. Augustine Amphitheatre.
