Bus Stop Werewolf, jumping for joy, with a werewolf

Bus Stop Werewolf

Claiming a new genre, "Dadcore," the rockers are living large and playing hard.

What do four hardcore/punk rock musicians do when they reach a certain age, are dads, and still love Alice in Chains and The Smashing Pumpkins? They form a band, write music with a punk rock vibe, and write lyrics that are relevant to them and their contemporaries. And they have a lot of fun.

Jesse Dobbie, formerly of Penny's Lookout and My Summer Semester sings lead vocals. Mike Griswold on rhythm guitar and backing box played with Trial by Stone and Eyes Sewn Shut. Jason Jelks is on lead guitar and backing vox, and while drummer Andy Robillard has been seen around town with classic rock and Latin bands, his punk/hardcore creds include Album Leaf, GoGoGo Airheart, and fLUF.

And yes, they really used the word "Dadcore" to describe their surprisingly acoustic sound. They write about life, love, having kids, loving your wife, and other subjects that grown-up punks will recognize. Their sound is definitely punk, yet the volume has been turned down. In fact, Andy plays with brushes, and the guitars are acoustic. Acoustic plus modern punk, plus frequent singalongs, adds up to Dadcore and fun.
