Jason Duke
First he worked in the industry, then he created a successful writing career.
Jason Duke is from Hendersonville, Tennessee, and after his high school athletics career ended he found his true calling. Once he graduated, he enrolled himself at Middle Tennessee State University where he battled with cancer, changed his major, and was rejected from songwriting class. After six years he received his Bachelor of Science in Recording Industry Management. Duke started getting his feet wet in the publishing industry and spent some time as a plugger and a creative director, which helped him gain some insight and experience in the field.
In 2009, Duke worked as a volunteer for musicians on call for a few months at Hard Rock Café, and when they closed he decided to focus solely on songwriting. Duke spent three years at Dan Hodges Music and then joined BMG Nashville. Since then he has celebrated a number-one single with Kelsea Ballerini called "Dibs," and he has had cuts with Keith Urban, Chris Bandi, and Australian artists Travis Collins, Missy Lancaster, and the Wolfe Brothers.
