Matt Wilson
Veteran touring musician, author, and entrepreneur.
Matt Wilson brings together the artistic and the business side of music, with his composing, performing, and enterprising talents.
Movin' Out is a Tony-award winning musical by Billy Joel and Twyla Tharp, in which Wilson was the famous "Piano Man," earning national recognition in its first national tour. Along with composing and touring, he shares his experience and knowledge, and is always on the trail of a new milieu.
Wilson's My Baby Grand, a one-hour performance acknowledging rock 'n roll's awesome piano players, recalls icons such as Billy Joel, Elton John, Carol King, and Ray Charles. A rock and roll piano show with lights, screens, and sing-alongs, he brings together 80's pop, familiar tunes, and various legends, with the sounds of their success.
In addition to a fabulous piano show, Wilson creates a charcuterie of music. Wilson also hosts the podcast On The Hook, in which he interviews musicians, and explores their stories, recognizing "the story arc of the artist." Another of Wilson's top-flight projects is the book, Hooks, a compendium of grounded advice for aspiring and successful musical artists, along with examples from real-life. Readers are encouraged to keep up their spirits in the face of self-doubts, as artists of all realms experience this angst, applying the info to life in general, onstage time, as well as the business side of the art.
