Zach Deputy
Performing one-man looping shows that excite crowds.
Zach Deputy's creative force is in his ability to perform a one-man show with the sound of a half dozen players. Trailblazing the art form of looping, he creates a unique and distinct background for each song. Sometimes he kicks off with a guitar riff, or percussion, or vocals. The multi-instrumental fireworks utilize four microphones, for different layers on the loop; main vocals, bass drum or bass vocals, synthesizer for choir sounds, and one for snare, back-beat, and hi-hat rhythms. Layering loops of chord progressions, drum sounds, guitar runs, vocals, and bass, he displays a talent which was created out of necessity, when a bass player did not show up for a gig.
With a relentless tour schedule of 300 shows annually, Deputy continues creating his unique songs, which blend his songwriting skills and creative presentation talents. Infusing his creations with his island background synchopation, along with his Low Country southern soul, Deputy performs straight from the soul, with no prerecorded base. Speaking of his upcoming album, Lunar Tunes, Deputy says that "the moon will rule my music."
On another note, he is an avid disc golfer and his teenage daughter is a world-class competitor in the sport; in support of the family, he sets the guitar aside and dons a caddie bib for her competitions!
