Take 5 minutes and witness a child being lifted from their wheelchair and onto the horse they love. Now try to emotionally grasp that this is the only time in their life they have actually had mobility and 'walked'. Ask any parent how radical the changes are physically ( using muscles they never get to otherwise and allowing them more mobility in life ) and the rocket ship boosts of confidence and communication. Places like Haven are literally magical.

Before purchasing a gift certificate for a trail ride or lesson from Haven Horse Ranch there are a few things you need to know: 1. The facility is actually a charity and though the charity is a worthy one – the trail rides and lessons are not the facility's main concern – i.e. not much effort or care is put into the trail ride or lesson experience and further if you are unsatisfied with your experience – tough luck, you will not receive a refund or other consideration. You will be told that this is all for a good cause and your dollars are helping others and this alone should satisfy you. 2. As others have mentioned in other reviews, communication with the ranch is exceedingly difficult (regardless of method – email or phone). As such setting up a trail ride or lesson often takes multiple calls and sometimes several weeks to accomplish. You should note that most gift certificates have a short lifespan (some as little as 90 days), the short life span of the voucher coupled with the difficulty level in communication for redemption often creates a situation where the gift certificate expires without use. In short, if you want to support the good works done at the ranch - make a donation to the cause but look for a positive equine experience for you and your family elsewhere. There are plenty of other equine facilities in St. Johns or Duval Counties that do have stronger experienced based programs that do not consider customer service or satisfaction an afterthought.

I'm one of the students at haven horse ranch and I have to say its great at lessons u groom the horse and tack it up and ride it. They also do camps, overnight camps and trail rides. They pick a horse for your skill level, once your skill level gets better they choose a different horse. The horse that I do lessons with orion he's sweet and easy to control, but he is big I'm 5'6 and I have a hard time mounting
