
"Early Days of St. Augustine" Living History Event
(904) 471-0116On Saturday, April 16, 2016, Fort Matanzas National Monument will host a special living history event featuring reeanctors displaying the daily life of Spanish soldiers in early colonial Florida. The reenactors will demonstrate musket firing and will also give presentations about the city's founders.
These demonstrations will last about 20 minutes each and will begin on the hour from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the reenactors' encampment, to be located next to the Fort Matanzas Visitor Center.
In addition to the demonstrations, the park will be offering its regular free ferry service to the fort. Visitors are invited to take a short ferry ride to explore the fort for about 40 minutes. Space is limited for ferry trips, and boarding passes are required. Passes are distributed at the Fort Matanzas Visitor Center on a first come, first served basis.
