Guana 50K and 12K Trail Races
Sponsored by JTC Running and supporting community health and wellness, the Guana 50K and 12K Trail Races take place on Sunday, December 7, 2025, at the Guana Tolomato Matanzas National Estuarine Research Reserve. The 50K races begin at 8:00 a.m., while the 2x25K teams race begins at 10:00 a.m. and the 12K race begins at 1:00 p.m.
The 50K race features a 7.75-mile loop, starting and ending at the trailhead. This trail is primarily hard-packed and shaded in most areas. Runners will encounter oak tree roots along the path. For the 12K race, the starting line is further into the trail to achieve the 12K distance. Participants in each race have specific time limits: nine hours for the 50K, seven hours for the 2x25K, and three hours for the 12K.
Runners will challenge themselves by moving through a 7.75–mile course shaded by towering oak trees and nature's beauty. All entrants receive a race hat, finishers receive a race t-shirt, and the top winners receive racing plaques.
Proceeds from this event benefit Friends of the GTM Reserve, a non-profit organization dedicated to aiding the Guana Tolomato Matanzas National Estuarine Research Reserve. This organization strives to improve research, educational programs, and conservation efforts.
