Diane Jacoby as Ophelia, a young Florida Suffragist in the early 1900s

On Saturday, August 8, 2026, from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m., Historical Dramatist Diane Jacoby presents her one-woman show introducing the audience to "Ophelia," a young woman from Florida who became a suffragist and marched in Washington, D.C.

While Ophelia's Victorian mother wanted her daughter to become a debutant, Ophelia learned about women fighting for the right to vote and was drawn to join them. Dramatist Diane Jacoby wrote and performs as Ophelia, enabling the audience to learn about women's fight for the vote and the young individuals who took up the signs and joined the demonstrations.

This performance raises funds for the Emergency Services and Homeless Coalition of St. Johns County, specifically to support the organization's efforts to stabilize families and help them attain safe and affordable housing.
