Ian Opalinski is an acoustic soloist with an excellent voice for performing songs of the 60s and 70s — songs by Neil Young, America, The Beatles, Tom Petty, JJ Cale, Jackson Browne, The Eagles, Bread, The Cars, and more. He explained, "Preserving songs of the 60s and 70s is important to me."

Ian is comfortable at the mic, whether singing or interacting with the audience, and frequently invites the crowd to join him in the chorus or to take the lead in songs that are obviously their favorites, too.

Folk band The Dunehoppers, standing on a sand dune, with their instruments

Dunehoppers

A local old-time bluegrass and contra dance band that gets toes tapping.

The Dunehoppers play folk and Americana with what one member describes as an "old-time configuration."

The group is led by fiddler Alan Hood. He's usually joined by Mike Elias on guitar, Bob Parsons on mandolin, Brian Lappin on banjo, and Janine Rainville on bass. Just as the members of old-time folk and dance bands ebbed and flowed depending on which musicians could attend the barn dance, this band's members ebb and flow because of jobs, summer visits north, and other gigs.

Jordan and the Posey Pickers

Jordan and the Posey Pickers show St. Augustine what bluegrass music is all about.

Jordan Kleinhans and his band originally played hardcore and worship music, but the group went bluegrass when band member Caleb Posey got a banjo — a resonator-back five-string longneck banjo. Their first gig playing bluegrass was as a warmup band for Lee Greenwood at St. Augustine's The Amp, which is a good indication of how well the new sound suited the band.
