The St. Augustine Lighthouse will celebrate the launch of the new exhibit "At Home With The Harns" on October 2, 2014. The event will include a message from keynote speaker Ed Bearss, and a Victorian-styled dinner.

The new exhibit will allow visitors to experience what it was like to live at the light station through the eyes of the head keeper William Harn and his family. William Harn, his family, and second assistant keeper all lived in the lighthouse in 1876. Guests can enjoy many interactive panels and follow a family member that will give them a firsthand account on what it was like to live during the post-Civil War era.  The Harn's parlor will be recreated and displayed in this exhibit.

The keynote speaker of the event, Ed Bearss, is a U.S. Marine Corps Veteran from World War 2 and a pre-eminent Civil War scholar. From 1981 to 1994 he served as the Chief Historian for the National Park Service. Bearss is also a published author, and has been featured on a number of documentaries on A&E, History Channel, and TLC.

Admission: Lighthouse members are $100 and non-members are $125.
