Fishbites Trading Post hosts the Fired Up Kingfish Challenge on Thursday through Sunday, June 18 through 21. Despite the name, this close-to-shore tournament offers two tournaments: a Snapper Tournament on Friday, June 19, and a Kingfish Tournament on Saturday, June 20, 2026. The Captain's Meeting starts at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 18, at the Tringali Barn. The Awards Ceremony starts at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, June 21, at Fishbites at Nix Boatyard.

The Tournament

The captains' meeting for both tournaments is at Tringali Barn 7310 US-1, St. Augustine, on Thursday, June 18, 2026, beginning at 5:00 p.m. You can register for the tournament at the Captain's meeting.

You can start fishing for Snapper at 7:00 a.m. on Friday and must be in the weigh-in line by 5:00 p.m. On Saturday, start fishing for kingfish at 7:00 a.m., and be in line for weigh-in by 6:00 p.m. Fishing and ends at The tournament boundaries are from Brevard County to Nassau County, including St. Johns, Flagler, and Duval counties. This inshore fishing tournament targets pompano and whiting. There are cash prizes for the winners in the youth and adult categories with the highest three-fish aggregate. Boundaries

This is a beach tournament, and you must stay within the three-mile limit. The northern boundary is Brunswick Inlet, and the southern boundary is the Cocoa Beach pier.

Event Details

Registration: $268.61 per person, including fees. Register in advance online. 

When: 

  • Captain's meeting and final registration is 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 18, 2026, at Tringali Barn
  • Fishing begins on both Friday and Saturday at 7:00 a.m. You must take a photo of your tournament fish, with your official tournament boat number, and the beach in the background. Submit photos via text as soon as possible and by 7:00 p.m. each day.
  • Weigh-in is on Sunday, beginning at 8:00 a.m. at Fishbites Trading Post. You must be in line by 10:00 a.m.

Beneficiaries: Proceeds from the 2026 tournament benefit the Tanner Gillespie Foundation, West Augustine Youth Development, Tidal Resilience Foundation, and the Ledford Family via Jimmy Jam Outreach.
