The Guana Tolomato Matanzas National Estuarine Research Reserve (GTMNERR) invites families to join them on the second Saturday of each month for a morning of seining. This family-friendly, hands-on event offers a unique opportunity to learn the art of seining, dragging a large net through the water to capture fish and other aquatic creatures.
Guided by a GTM naturalist, you are provided with all the necessary equipment, including waders and boots, for this environmental educational experience. You'll have the chance to pull a seine net through the waters of Guana Lake, collecting fish, crabs, and other species, while learning about the diverse marine life inhabiting the area.
Admission: This event is free, but a $3.00 per vehicle parking fee applies. Reservations are required, so please register in advance to secure your spot.
When: The second Saturday of each month from 9:00 - 11:00 a.m.
Where: The GTM National Estuarine Research Reserve, 505 Guana River Road, Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida 32082. Meet at the Guana Dam Recreational Area.
