Active since 1966 and celebrated for songs like "Vaseline Machine," "Sweet Emotion," and "Snorkel," renowned rock and Americana artist Leo Kottke is known for his distinctive fingerpicking style and music that captures the raw beauty and spirit of the American South. His expressive, free-flowing technique invites listeners on a smooth yet rugged musical journey unlike any other.
Born in Georgia, Kottke drew early inspiration from Delta blues and folk legends, shaping a sound that would become uniquely his own. He released his debut album in 1969 and later signed with Capitol Records in 1971. Over the years, Kottke has collaborated with acclaimed artists including Jack Nitzsche and Stephen Paulus, continually expanding his musical reach.
Kottke's many awards include the coveted "Certificate of Significant Achievement in Not Playing the Trombone" from the University of Texas at Brownville.
His extensive discography includes Mudlark, My Feet Are Smiling, Dreams and All That Stuff, 6- and 12-String Guitar, Chewing Pine, A Shout Toward Noon, My Father’s Face, Leo Live, Great Big Boy, Peculiaroso, Standing in My Shoes, One Guitar, No Vocals, Try and Stop Me, Sixty Six Steps, and his most recent release, Noon.
