Limelight Theatre presents Battle of Shallowford, from Thursday, June 4, through Sunday, June 21, 2026. On Sundays, the show starts at 2:00 p.m.; all the other shows start at 7:30 p.m.

This Production

Written by Ed Simpson, The Battle of Shallowford is a full-length comedy that imagines what would happen if residents of a small Southern town had believed the War of the Worlds radio broadcast. (Spoiler alert: They do.) They prepare for battle, of course. Set in a country store, where gossip rules, this play has largely been staged in university and repertory theaters, to delighted reviews.

Set in 1938, the play has a cast of one young woman and several men of various ages and diverse backgrounds. In addition to the humor, the play touches on hope, imagination, the potential for change, and the imminent threat of World War II.

Admission:

General admission tickets are $37.60, with fees.
Deal tickets for the first Thursday of each production (Preview Night, June 4, 2026) and on one Tuesday (Terrific Tuesday, June 16, 2026 ) are $27.10, with fees.
Student "Rush Tickets" are $15.00, when available, 60 minutes before the curtain.
Box office hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 1:00 to 4:00 p.m., or purchase tickets online.
