Limelight Theatre: Godspell

Limelight Theatre presents Godspell, from Thursday, March 26, through Sunday, April 19, 2026. On Sundays, the show starts at 2:00 p.m.; all the other shows start at 7:30 p.m.

This Production

Godspell was conceived by John-Michael Tebelak, who first wrote it as his master's thesis, and later directed the play in several theaters and on Broadway. Stephen Schwartz wrote Godspell's music and new lyrics (some songs had original music and others were set to the music of popular hymns.)

The play is in two acts. There are 10 performers; one representing the role of "Christ," and another performing as both "John" and "Judas." The other eight appear as non-Biblical characters who help relate the parables using song, comedy, and stories. Traditionally, all characters in professional performances go by the actor's given name.

Admission:

• General admission tickets are $35.00. The Limelight does not offer lower prices for seniors, students, or the military during musical productions.
• Deal tickets are offered for the first Thursday of each production (Preview Night, March 26—SOLD OUT) and on one Tuesday (Terrific Tuesday, April 14), and are $25.00.
• Student "Rush Tickets" are $15.00, when available, 60 minutes before the curtain.
• Box office hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 1:00 to 4:00 p.m., or you can purchase tickets online.

When: On Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, from Thursday, March 26, through Sunday, April 19, 2026. Sunday shows are matinees and start at 2:00 p.m. The performances on all other days begin at 7:30 p.m. Preview Thursday is March 26 (Sold Out), and Terrific Tuesday is April 14.

There is free parking behind the theater—enter from Old Mission Avenue and drive to the back to park in the lot on Bernard Street. Use the main entrance.
