Little Miss Sunshine at the Limelight Theatre

Little Miss Sunshine, an Independent Spirit Award winner for Best Feature and multiple Academy Award-winning film, is coming to the stage at Limelight Theatre's Matuza Mainstage, located at 11 Mission Avenue in St. Augustine. Shows runs from May 12 through June 4, 2023 at 7:30 p.m. on Thursdays through Saturdays and 2:00 p.m. on matinee Sundays, with a preview night on May 11, 2023 as well as a Terrific Tuesday on May 16, 2023 at 7:30 pm. 

Originally written by author James Lapine, this musical tells the story of the Hoover family, a dysfunctional crew who strive for better in spite of the odds against them. Sheryl Hoover is the heart of the family that keeps everyone afloat, barely, as she is overworked and always trying to find a healthy balance among them. Richard is the father with a Type A personality, struggling to hit it big as a motivational speaker. Uncle Frank has a broken heart from a bad breakup with his boyfriend, and Grandpa was kicked out of his retirement home. The rock of the family is young Olive who enters a children's beauty pageant with high hopes. 

With a family who desperately thrives to support each other no matter what, they decide to take the long trek to the pageant. Everything goes wrong, and the pageant is a bust but in the end, the Hoovers embrace their lives. This production has mature themes.

Admission: Tickets are $30.50 (including fees). Tickets are $20.50 on the first Thursday of each production (Preview Night) and on Terrific Tuesday, May 16. Student "Rush Tickets" are $10.00, when available, 30 minutes prior to curtain.  Box office hours are on Tuesday to Saturday from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., along with an option to make online purchases.  This is a musical production, resulting in extra costs, so there are no discounts for seniors, military, or students.
