Deuterman Productions presents the musicians who perform on the album Madre Cumbia on Thursday, November 19, 2026, from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m. at Colonial Oak Music Park.

The Act

Cumbia, the national dance of Colombia, blends indigenous, European, and African cultures, and the rhythms of the cumbia inspired much of Colombia's popular music. Three music acts collaborated to produce a recent album celebrating this music, Madre Cumbia. This concert and the album that inspired it feature these three celebrated artists and groups.

For decades, Los Gaiteros de San Jacinto have worked to preserve and share cumbia music. Their proficient, rhythmic, and appealing blend features gaitas, drums, and voice. (Gaitas are a type of flute, typically made of cactus wood.) Los Gaiteros de San Jacinto are past winners of the Latin Grammys.

Fruko, bassist, vocalist, and "the Quincy Jones of Colombia," produces and performs a popular version of modern tropical music, with roots in cumbia. His decades-long career still inspires musicians in Latin America.

Carmelo Torres, also a Latin Grammy winner, "is widely regarded as one of the last great accordeonistas gruesos.
