The Romanza Festival presents a Chamber Music Series concert with cellist Aledei Romanenko and violinist Joseph Kuo on Monday, May 11, 2026, beginning at noon at the Memorial Presbyterian Church.
This Concert
Born in Russia, Alexei Romanenko studied at the Moscow Conservatory and then moved to New York to study at the New England Conservatory of Music. Romanenko is now the principal cellist in the Jacksonville Symphony, and performs frequently as a soloist, in recitals, and as a chamber musician.
Originally from Los Angeles, Jonathan Kuo earned a Bachelor of Music from Juilliard and a Master of Music from the Manhattan School of Music. He is a member of the Jacksonville Symphony and also performs at several festivals, including those in Astoria, Aspen, Brittne-pares, and Académie-Festival des Arcs.
On May 11, the program highlights each instrument's character and the musicians' virtuosity. The program includes the Handel-Halvorsen passacaglia, the "God Save the King" variations by Servais and Ghys, and pieces by Reinhold Gilère.
