On Saturday, May 9, 2026, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., Romanza Festivale presents the St. Augustine Community Chorus with a program titled "The Way to Peace."
The Concert
With "The Way to Peace," the St. Augustine Community Chorus concludes their year-long America 250 trilogy. The event's title composition, "The Way to Peace" by composer Elaine Hagenberg, brings a message of beauty and renewal, themes repeated throughout the concert. The chorus presents contemporary works and classics, from Haydn to Hagenberg, chosen to lead the audience through the darkness toward a bright future.
The St. Augustine Community Chorus
Local and regional amateur singers from St. Johns County and the surrounding area join the chorus to share good music with local audiences. The organization strives to perform choral music with joy and a high level of expertise.
Founded in 1948 by the late William Dixon, some of the chorus's first performances included Handel's Messiah at Trinity Episcopal church, a performance and tradition the chorus has kept throughout the years. In addition, the chorus holds three concerts each year: a Christmas Concert in December, a pops concert in March, and a Masterworks concert in May.
The chorus seeks to build the music community and encourages adult singers to contact the St. Augustine Community Chorus to learn more about its programs and opportunities.
