During their 2023/24 season, A Classic Theater presents staged readings of four full-length plays on select Fridays from November 2023 through April 2024. One play will be presented each month, on a Friday evening in November, January, February, and April, at the Center for Spiritual Living in St. Augustine.

Considered by some to be the "purest form of theatre," staged readings don't have sets, props, or light cues, and few or no costumes. The actors perform using a script and necessary stage directions are read to help the audience understand what is happening.

  • November 3, 2023, at 7:30 p.m. — ART, written by Yasmin Reza and translated by Christopher Hampton.
    • When one friend purchases a piece of white-on-white art, the buyer and his two friends get into a heated discussion about the painting, testing the bonds of their friendships.
    • Directed by David Buchman. Cast: Scott Broughton, David Buchman, and Cameron Hodges.
  • January 12, 2024, at 7:30 p.m. — Salon de Paris, written by Amy Lauer Goldin.
    • This original play by a local author exposes a collision of cultures when a pierced, punk, parolee is hired to work at a fading salon that caters to a mature clientele.
    • Written by Amy Lauer Golding, and directed by Grace Reed. The cast is Anna Vera, Sam McIlrath, Nancy Grote, Natalie Beltrami, Suzanna Reed, and David Abraham.
  • February 9, 2024, at 7:30 p.m. — For Whom the Southern Belle Tolls, written by Christopher Durang.
    • In this parody of The Glass Menagerie, Southern belle Amanda prepares one of her sons (a hyper-sensitive hypochondriac) to meet a young woman, deals with the rather interesting young woman, and tries to handle an issue with her other son — all the while struggling to maintain her southern charm.
    • Directed by Dawn Knipe.
  • April 12, 2024, at 7:30 p.m. — Other Desert Cities, written by John Robin Baitz.
    • After a six-year absence, a woman returns to her home in Palm Springs and lets her family know that she is writing a memoir that will include a tragic family event.
