War in Concert
RESCHEDULED TO: Sunday, November 13, 2016 at Ponte Vedra Concert Hall
Please Note: This event is from 2016.
Ponte Vedra Concert Hall will host genre-bending classic act War on stage on Sunday, November 13, 2016, at 8 p.m. This concert has been rescheduled from its original date of June 17, 2016.
Formed in Los Angeles, War has been recording their blend of funk, R&B, Latin, and blues since 1969. War produced a number of American classic hits like "Low Rider" and "Why Can't We Be Friends," in addition to a collection of music with laid-back vibes, true to their southern California roots. War's sound and lyrics were often politically charged, commenting on issues ranging from gang violence to racial tensions and emphasizing the theme of brotherhood in step with their racially integrated line-up.
War's music and commentary remain relevant, and singer and keyboardist Lonnie Jordan said of the band's enduring and trans-generational appeal, "We have a lot of second-generation fans and they're seeing the same things their parents saw. They're hearing the same messages. We're like Levi's, and there's nothing nostalgic about Levi's. In fact, they're not really good and funky until they've been worn awhile."
Admission: $43.50 General Admission (Standing Room Only). Tickets for the original June 17 date will be honored for the new November 13 date. Refunds are available at the point of purchase for those who cannot attend on the new date.
