From Brooklyn, New York, DL is OK is a mix of sharing past experiences, a consideration of the future, and living in the present moment using the sound of rock.
DL is OK (AKA David Tashjian) moved to New York to pursue his musical career. For the better part of a decade, he spent his time between recording studios, different rehearsal spaces, a retail store, numerous apartments, and more bars than he could count. This experience gave him some perspective, good friends, and new songs.
DL is OK is a statement about the guy's disposition—he's looking for fun between beaches and barstools, and although he may not always find it, he's doing all right. His music is as much a product of his parent's record collection as indiscriminate teenage listening, full of guitars and melodic bits and so easy to love. The songs resonate with musical and autobiographical outtakes from his past.
Now back living in St. Augustine, his songs reflect how he and other musicians view the world. "Florida Motel," is a kitsch homage to the local musicians everywhere.
