Flood Reactor
A mesh of punk, traveling music, folk, alt outlaw folk, and backwoods punk.
An energetic ensemble, Flood Reactor is an intense musical duo that sheds light on human existence, existentialism, and matters of the heart. Drawing from many genres, Flood Reactor takes an uncommon approach. It blends acoustic traveling music with track punk, alternative outlaw folk, and backwoods punk to form distinct, original tones that are unique to the ensemble.
Flood Reactor is headed by local musician Coby Neal on acoustic guitar with Kaelani Angelique on violin/fiddle. Together, these two burn up the stage, reading each other during live performances like a favorite quote or poem. They simply mesh well. Their on-stage chemistry highlights not only their deep love of music but also their natural ability to bring stories to the surface of the earth from beneath the heavy soil.
Originally from Albertville, Alabama, Neal lives by the "do-it-yourself" mantra, recording Flood Reactor's first six-song demo, Money Mountain, released in January of 2017. Every song on the record is a gem, carefully crafted with the utmost intention and precision. Neal features an original instrumental entitled "My Dog Rod," which showcases the roots of his dynamic and energetic guitar style. The opening track, "Floor Runner," features both members taking the lead, singing a song of distant lost love, and the emotional baggage one travels with from city to city. This duo gets to the roots of the trees, letting go of judgment and delusion, to reveal a diamond mine of songs full of genuine emotion and life lessons.
